To successfully complete the certification process, aspiring doulas must finish all course lessons, assignments, and the final exam with a minimum passing score of 70% or higher. This ensures a comprehensive understanding of the material and readiness to excel as a certified doula.

Evaluate the ability to assess a family’s needs and develop a tailored care plan that addresses physical recovery, emotional health, and newborn care, and assess practical competence in handling common birth, postpartum and newborn care situations.

As part of the certification process, you are required to conduct two recorded interviews—one with a certified doula and another with a pregnant or recently postpartum individual—designed to deepen your understanding of doula practices, client experiences, and effective communication while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines.

You’ll get the chance to learn real-world skills, ask meaningful questions, and practice professional communication in a supportive setting. These guided interviews count toward your certification requirement and give you the confidence and connections to grow in your career.

You’ll submit one Interview Critique Form completed by the professional you interviewed. This form provides constructive feedback on your strengths, identifies areas for growth, and confirms your professionalism and communication skills during the interview process.

You must submit two recommendation letters from individuals who know you well and can attest to your integrity, reliability, and character. These individuals may include employers, mentors, colleagues, clients, friends, family members, or anyone familiar with your strengths and abilities in a personal or professional context.

Before your certificate can be issued, please make sure you complete both the Feedback Form and the Completion Form in this step. These two short forms confirm that all requirements have been met and allow us to move your file into final review. Once submitted, certificates are typically issued within 3–5 business days.
