Birth Photography Certification Course

You’ll learn how to work respectfully in the birth space, support the family’s needs, and position yourself to capture powerful images without disrupting care.

You’ll also learn strategies for building strong client relationships that carry through from initial consultation to final delivery.

Assess your practical skills in birth photography, including working in low-light environments, capturing authentic and respectful storytelling moments, maintaining professionalism in sensitive spaces, and delivering a polished gallery. You will also demonstrate editing techniques, client communication, and ethical practices to ensure your work reflects both artistry and care.

As part of the Birth Photography certification, you’ll complete two recorded interviews: one with a professional photographer and one with a client or parent. These conversations give you real-world insight into skills, communication, and business practices while helping you meet certification requirements with professionalism and ethical care.

The Optional Guided Interview Pathway connects you with two experienced, full-time professionals in your field through warm introductions made by our team. You’ll gain real-world insights into technical skills, business practices, and client relationships while practicing professional communication. With structured guidance, these interviews fulfill your certification requirement and help you build confidence for future networking and career growth.

For the Birth Photography certification, you’ll submit two Interview Critique Forms completed by either (1) a professional mentor (e.g., doula, educator, NCS, lactation consultant, sleep coach, birth photographer) or (2) a family/individual you interviewed. These forms provide feedback on your strengths, areas for growth, and confirm your professionalism and communication skills.

For the Birth Photography certification, you’ll need to submit two recommendation letters from individuals who can speak to your professionalism, communication skills, and readiness for this role—such as mentors, colleagues, clients, or supervisors. These letters help confirm your ability to work ethically, respectfully, and effectively with families and professionals.

After completing all course requirements, your materials will be reviewed. Within 3–5 business days, you’ll receive your official Certified Birth Photographer digital certificate and unique certification ID, confirming your credential: CBP (DNT Network).
